About us

The first Kingsmills School opened its doors on October 1st 1873, on the site of what is now the car-park of Kingsmills Presbyterian Church.

The current school was built in 1958. It consists of a main building, two mobile classrooms and several storage areas. Our school was extended in April 2013 when the building of our new multi-purpose hall was completed. Further construction work was carried out in 2018 when a new mobile was constructed for P3/4 and the R/P1/P2 mobile was refurbished. The school is a four teacher school with three classes. A Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 class, a Year 3 and Year 4 class and a Year 5, Year 6 and Year 7 class.

The school has always kept up with modern teaching methods and technology. All three classrooms have interactive whiteboards and access to at least 6 computers/laptops. Each child also has access to their own iPad.

Our school has a proud tradition of academic success. We equally value and cherish the various opportunities we provide for our children beyond the classroom and the strong pastoral relationships throughout the school.

Our Vision

At Kingsmills primary School we endeavour to offer the best possible educational opportunities to each child in an atmosphere where they feel happy, secure and committed to their school.

We aim to have a pleasing appearance on the outside and a welcoming environment inside. School will have a happy, industrious atmosphere with polite, well-mannered children where people are valued and where good relationships are evident.

Displays of children’s work will be dominant, being attractively presented at all times.

High expectations will be set for all the children.

It will be a smooth-running school, where roles have been well defined, and there is effective communication between all people and agencies involved in the day-to-day running of the school. Resources will be well managed, and the building well maintained.

There will be events which involve parents. Cross-community contacts will be maintained and promoted.

Our school will encourage an ‘open door’ philosophy.

By raising the profile and reputation of the school it will go from strength to strength and always remain a focal point in the local community.
