While completing our non-chronological report about outer space Oliver and Sam discovered that on the planet Venus there are old volcanoes and lots of lava. So this got the children thinking about how a volcano works. Being scientists we decided to look at a new reaction using lemons as our volcano and red food colouring as our lava. The baking soda created such a great reaction that the children squealed with excitement as the lava poured over the edge and left our room smelling of lemon.
