Gas Masks
As part of our WW2 topic we made our own gas masks. Before making our own we had the chance to look at and hold some real gas masks. We looked at their features and were surprised by how smelly they were inside.
After looking at the real gas masks we decided to make our own. The children planned what materials we would need and then spent 2 weeks making their masks.
Finally we had a 'gas mask drill'. I played the air raid siren and the children had to practice getting their gas masks on as quickly as possible. This enabled the children to appreciate how important it would have been to have carried your gas mask everywhere with you. I am happy to report that everyone survived the gas attack!
Great work everyone and a big thank-you to Elaine for bringing in her gas masks for us.
