Sunflowers

12th Apr 2019

Before planting our sunflower seeds we took time to look at a very famous artist called Vincent van Gogh. After creating their line drawings using graphite pencils the class decided that they would like to use water colours to recreate his painting.

The children were amazed to find out that van Gogh had only used three shades of yellow to create this famous painting. This helped to catch the imagination of the children, before they became artists and mixed shades of yellow and orange to paint their sunflowers. They took their time to look at the detail on the real sunflowers in the vase.

I am sure you will agree with me, that we definitely have some mini van Gogh's in the foundation stage classroom.
